Our wedding bands. They are special because they are custom made by @efirgems – just for us, which gives them a sentimental value like no other.

First of all, I love that it’s no longer expected for the bride and groom to have matching bands. It is much better for both of us to wear designs that match our personal preferences rather than have matching rings that wouldn’t suit one of us. So, in that sense, it was very easy for both of us.

We looked through things Efir Gems have previously made and sent references of rings we liked. We shared our ring sizes and color preferences. All of the communication was done online. Then, they presented us with a digital visualisation which we had to approve before proceeding. Within a couple of weeks our wedding bands were ready. Ruslan’s ring is made of white gold with a matte finish and bevelled edges, and mine is yellow gold with 15 precious stones, symbolising the 15 years together that led us to this day. My idea was to have a ring that looks well next to my engagement ring. Also, they engraved the base of the rings with our two letters R&D, which was a challenge, as mine is really very fine and delicate. But they did it! :)

When we received the wedding bands, I was also very impressed with the packaging. Beautiful. Exquisite. Special. We did not need to buy a special ring holder for the wedding. We used the very box you see on the photos during the ritual. Our son Aleksandar was the ring bearer at the wedding and it was such a special moment to have him do this! I think he enjoyed it, too. :)

However, if you are planning to have custom made wedding rings, give yourself (and the jeweller) two months for this. We did leave ordering the wedding bands for a bit late, but it takes time. Sometimes there will be little details that need to be fixed, so don’t do it last minute.
