Location: America Graffiti, Milan, Italy
Never have I ever believed that I would go to Italy and experience the American culture of the 50s to such an extent. But so it happened.
By entering America Graffiti one is welcome by Elvis’ quiet voice singing his best records. The atmosphere is typical for the 50s – a colorful, cinematic interior with black and white square tiles, neon lights and too many elements of retro cars and bikes. Everything is rock’n’roll and it seems to have popped out of old American movies. Food is also more than American – hamburgers, milkshakes and donuts. And the most interesting thing is that in the country of pizza, pasta and gelato, this restaurant chain ranks high in popularity and growth. A total of 61 diners in Italy and 15 more in preparation to launch. Perhaps Italians themselves are in need of something different. Something beyond their own traditions.
Honestly, I’m very fond of all those retro experiences. It seems like an escape from reality. If you are visiting Milan anytime soon or going anywhere else in Italy, make sure you check out America Graffiti. It’s a different cultural experience – like a time machine. You will get me once you make a visit. :)
To finish off, I am sharing 4 quotes by the King of Rock’n’Roll to inspire your day:
“Ambition is a dream with a V8 engine.”
“When things go wrong, don’t go with them.”
“I’m not trying to be sexy. It’s just my way of expressing myself when I move around.”
“Truth is like the sun. You can shut it out for a time, but it ain’t goin’ away.”
