Walking the vibrant streets of Sofia on a late afternoon, I am overwhelmed with the lively and bustling spirit of the capital city. Apparently, the extreme summer heat throughout the day urges everyone to show up during that time, when the air is lighter and a lot easier to breath.
Just before sunset the downtown area is filled with vigorous and youthful masses. People are dressed in their own unique way, manifesting a carefree attitude and self-confidence. That’s what I love about the big city – the diversity and the lack of concern about what passing by strangers think. You can be exactly who you want to be, without paying attention to the variety of public prejudices. As Orson Welles phrases it “Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn”. This is the urban mindset.
Here I am wearing an edgy maxi skirt in black, made from a stretch jersey fabric with lower-thigh split on both sides. The mid-high block heel sandals I bought from Stradivarius earlier this summer, while the loose embellished t-shirt in salmon is a last year finding during a massive sale at Zara’s. I have paired the look with a black suede envelope clutch and an over-sized minimalist metal-strap wristwatch.
