What I have been enjoying much recently is spending time for myself, reading a magazine and drinking coffee. And I mean those oldfashioned paper magazines. In November I subscribed for receiving Vogue and since then I have been following it regularly. Even though I have access to the digital version, I still prefer holding the magazine solid and heavy in my hands.
It was a wish of mine for long enough to subscribe for a magazine. I was wondering between Vogue and Porter Magazine. The latter comes out only 6 times a year, so I thought a more regular inspiration would be a better idea. Yes, that’s my main idea. To search for inspiration, discover new interpretations and artistic views, as well as practice my English. :)
The last time I decided to enjoy time for myself was at SASA. I ordered a cappuccino, a strawberry fresh juice and a chocolate cake. The amazing Amber Valetta was looking at me from the May cover – all natural, makeup-less, unpretentious and so feminine. This woman is so much more attractive now than 20 years ago on her first Vogue cover. And all she makes me think about is who needs all that falseness and make-up, when true beauty comes from nothing else but a woman’s confidence?
I also came across the inspiring interview of Tory Burch – the founder of the brand Tory Burch. A woman which gives you her positivity as soon as you look at her. A woman with a fantastic sense for fashion, which is easy to spot from her collections. A mother of 3 and a business woman. The 73rd most powerful woman of Forbes, who created a whole empire. I wish one day someone would look at me the way I look at her now – with admiration and respect.
After going through almost everything in the May issue, I felt cheered and inspired. Firstly, because of the inspiring stories, and secondly, because of the time I have spent just for myself. It felt like a re-charge. Sometimes all you need is to stop and do something refreshing for yourself. It distracts from work responsibilities and afterward you feel more eager to do your job. I believe all of us should adopt this habit.
TIP: If you would like to subscribe for Vogue, take note that it’s full of ads. I was shocked upon receiving the December issue, but then it got better and interesting articles started to make their appearance more often. But I don’t complain from ads that much. For me they are an inspiration, too. :)
