Some people face difficulties determining their skin type, which is the first and most important step into choosing the right skin products (you can find out what’s your skin type here). However, with the environment being too polluted and harsh, more and more people tend to have sensitive skin. I myself feel I’m one of those people.

Sensitive skin is a skin condition in which skin is prone to itching and irritation due to internal and external factors. But how and why does this happen? Basically, the skin needs a skin barrier to guard it. In order for it to function properly, it needs enough of moisture. Some of the most frequent and irritating factors that weaken this barrier are air conditioning, central heating, harsh chemicals and pollution, cold weather, and too much sun. Factors that we face every day.

One of the most recommended sensitive skin solutions is thermal spring water. It is dermatologically proven to naturally soothe, anti-irritate and enrich with components even the most sensitive skin types. A brand I can absolutely recommend here is Avené. I’ve been using it’s products since high school, and have remained loyal to its quality. What’s more, recently I got to test two of its newest products – the Hydrating Skin Tone Perfector and the Gentle Shower Gel. Here are my impressions, as follow.

The Avené Hydrance Optimale Skin Tone Perfector is quite hydrating and has a nice light texture which delicately balances the skin tone. The mineral pigments in it correct the little skin imperfections. What’s best about it, is it doesn’t irritate the skin, but rather soothes and calms with the power of Thermal Water. And it definitely feels like a thin protecting film over the skin, especially considering the 30SPF it features! The only thing you need to keep in mind is matching the shade of the pigment with your skin color.

The Avené Gentle Shower Gel is a slightly scented foaming gel, which has a moisturizing effect. It can be used both on body and face. I must say it works great for the latter, too, leaving it soft and hydrated. To help clean my skin more deeply I use one of my Konjac Sponges, enriched with pink clay (read my thoughts on it here). Honestly, this turned out to be my best current beauty combo, which leaves my skin so soft and calm.

Do you think your skin is sensitive, too? What are your sensitive skin solutions?
