Wearing a pair of high pointed pumps, I thought I could cheer you up with a witty quote I came across recently:

High heels were invented by a woman who had been kissed on the forehead.” ― Christopher Morley

Must admit this is a viewpoint I’ve never accounted, and it made me smile. Though in reality the invention of high heels may have nothing to do with a woman being kissed on forehead, one thing is sure – there is a long history behind them. It’s commonly believed that the first instance of wearing heels happened in 1533 during the wedding of Catherine de’ Medici and Duke of Orleans. Interestingly, there are recordings stating that such shoes have been worn by Persian riders. Even pharaohs and nobles in Ancient Egypt would demonstrate power through them. One thing is certain – high heels have a long story full of transformation and evolution. I believe our ancestors would be amazed by the high heels as we know them now – in their absolute variety of shapes and heights. :) However, something hasn’t change and it’s the feeling of confidence and power they give to a woman!

After the discussion of high heels, I don’t think there is anything left I can add, except for the fact that these classic pointed pumps are my besties. Leaving this aside, I cannot miss but mention my other favorite part of this outfit – the pearl choker necklace. The first time I saw it I knew I had to have it. My most dear statement jewelry at the moment! Anyway, because I like casual chic, what better than breaking the rules and mixing pearls and boyfriend jeans? I don’t think it’s a bad idea since the gold top is balancing things out. Some may feel there are too many gold pieces in this outfit, but I feel there is nothing wrong about wearing golds during the day. In fact the incorporation of such pieces is making the outfit look a lot more polished.

My developer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP.
I have always disliked the idea because of the costs.
But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on numerous websites for
about a year and am concerned about switching to another platform.
I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net. Is there
a way I can transfer all my wordpress content into it? Any help would be really appreciated!

Such a nice outfit – I love that sweater. I often read about the history of fashion I love finding out how the items we wear everyday were created.

Great story. You are right, equestrian riders of yesteryear indeed did have a heel on their boot. (Learned the history as a child when I rode English). It was a matter of control in the stirrups. As you stated, our ancestors would be amazed at the heels of today. Heels may not have been invented for a woman who was kissed on the forehead but they are serving that purchase these days. I have a lot of short friends. Some are never not in a heel. Even on the weekend. Here in NYC the streets can be hard on your shoes. However that doesn’t stop them. (Even if I in pain). I used to hate it but now I love being tall. Standing at 5’11, if I don’t want to wear heels, I don’t have to. However at work…always. I work in finance and I love the power it conveys before I even open my mouth.

As for your ensemble, I didn’t really pick up on all the gold until mentioned. You’re right. Maybe it seems that way because you’ve paired this look with a daytime light denim wash. If paired with a dark rinse skinny jean you’d see things differently. The look would instantly be simple & chic with more of an evening vibe. But as you said, there’s nothing wrong with gold/metallics during the day!

Happy I stumbled across your blog.
