Last week Ron, Alex and I took our first family trip with no car involved. We jetted off to charming Sicily and spend our whole time in beautiful Palermo.
For the last few trips we took abroad, Ron and I came to the realisation that knowing too much about your destination can give you expectations which potentially would not be met. So we adopted a new travel manner. Researching just a little bit about the place (me) and giving ourselves the opportunity to explore it with clean minds on the very first day. We did this in Rome and Milan last year. We also did it now in Palermo.
On the first day we did get lost in Palermo, meaning we walked kilometers without even knowing where we were headed. But it was the nicest thing. I am a firm believer that one needs to get lost in order to feel the real spirit of a city. It’s easy to follow a tourist map, but it will never lead you to the streets painting the actual atmosphere of the place. However, the night after this I always take time to research and plan the next day, because planning is key, but first day is for getting lost.
On that very first day in Palermo, I wore this comfortable outfit and shoes. I believe that travel looks need to unite comfort and style, without giving up on the other. So, I walked those extra kilometers in these comfortable, but yet trendy PeshArt shoes. My feet never felt tired or bored. I also felt extra comfortable in a pair of wide trousers, light quilted jacket and silk blend plain T-shirt. I honestly believe the latter is the ultimate travel piece for all travel women.
