I am not crazy about trends. I follow them as long as they look good on me. Culottes are one of those trends that I was quite skeptical about. I did give them a chance a few times, but did not feel they were my thing. Until I came across these denim culottes.
Being fairly petite (164 cm to be more precise) makes it a bit difficult to find culottes that look aesthetically OK on my body shape. So it took time and a dose of luck to find the recipe for finding a good pair. If you want to experiment with a different to skinny jeans style, and you are not one of those lucky girls scoring over 175 cm, then you might want to follow these tips:
- Look for a relatively straight cut. Everything that features a wide flare will make you appear shorter and put a little extra weight visually.
- Look for the proper length. Opt for pairs that go just below your knee down to your mid calf. Nothing shorter or longer.
- Look for a solid fabric. Denim culottes are a great pick because denim is a solid fabric. It will covers those little imperfections, unlike thin ones.
- Look for a high rise. High-rise and high-waiste models will elongate your legs.
And if you are still unsure whether you like culottes or not, opt for heels. That will give you the extra confidence boost you need.
Have you tried accommodating this trend into your Spring wardrobe already? Would you give culottes a chance?
